2nd Training Workshop on cetacean survey data analysis techniques, for Algerian, Spanish and Moroccan researchers
The 2nd Training Workshop on cetacean survey data analysis techniques for Algerian, Spanish and Moroccan researchers was held from 3rd to 7th May. Taking place for a second year, the workshop was quite a success. Organised by ALNITAK as part of the “Alboran, a case study for the application of the European marine strategy” project and funded by the Biodiversity Foundation with the support of CENEAM, the workshop was held in Valsain, Segovia.
Over the 4 days the workshop lasted, the 22 participants from Spain, Morocco, Slovenia and the United Kingdom were able to put to the experts, David Borchers, Phil Hammond and Ana Cañadas, their queries about the best methodology to apply in relation to their study areas and environments, how to deal with problems arising from analysis of their data and how to plan future research. All the participants congratulated ALNITAK on the usefulness of this type of workshop and urged it to arrange a third workshop in 2011 in order to maintain the initiative’s continuity.
